If you contact us by fax or email we will be in touch as soon as we possibly can. If you have not heard from us within a couple of days please send a new message or telephone. Many thanks. We are not deliberately ignoring you but we do get hundreds of enquiries every day and unfortunately it is sometimes impossible to answer them all as quickly as we would like to. Please also bear in mind that computers and servers do sometimes crash which also causes delays!!
When sending an email please also send a telephone number on which you can be contacted. This makes it easier if we have queries or the reply just refuses to be delivered - which does happen!! Please also refer to the information in your previous email - an email with a message such as "any news yet" with all previous correspondence deleted can be impossible to trace.

The UK telephone number is an answering service which we access reguarly. We will call you back as soon as we can. If you do not receive a reply quickly - we are sometimes very busy and it does sometimes take longer than we would like to call back - please follow up with an email message.

We offer a "find a holiday" service. Please don't ask for a search unless you really want to book a holiday as each search is undertaken individually and involves telephone calls and faxes to owners and agencies in France. This takes time and if you are unsure whether you really want a holiday in France it is also unfair on the many people who are genuinely looking for a holiday and who are having to wait while your request is being processed.
Please note that pillows are standard French sized pillows and bolsters not English pillows. Many of the single beds are three-quarter size and so slightly larger than the standard English bed.
***PLEASE REMEMBER*** that in France end of stay cleaning is considered to be the responsibility of the holidaymaker. All owners ask for a security deposit which is fully refundable at the end of your holiday. However any breakages and cleaning charges WILL be deducted from your security deposit. You MUST leave your holiday accommodation as you found it. We have received several complaints from French owners and agencies about the condition in which some guests have left their properties. Bagain Gîtes does not handle security deposits. We are not responsible for collecting security deposits from owners although we will, of course, in exceptional circumstances ask owners to return security deposits to customers. Most cottages offered on this site are French owned and the rental is much lower than you would expect to find for properties which have English owners. End of stay cleaning is NOT included in the rental.
Bookings usually run from Saturday to Saturday. Arrival time is from 4.00 pm and departure time is up to 10.00 am. You much not arrive at your gîte before 4.00 pm or leave later than 10.00 am.
Reservations are secured by paying a deposit of 25%. This deposit is non refundable. The balance rental for your holiday is due eight weeks before the start of your holiday. If you need to cancel your holiday you must inform Bargain Gîtes in writing. If you do not inform Bargain Gîtes in writing within eight weeks of the start of your holiday that you wish to cancel they you will be liable for the total cost of the holiday. The due date for your balance payment for your holiday will be included in your introductory letter and in your invoice sent after you have paid your deposit. No further invoices are normally sent out. If you do not pay your balance rental by the due date you will be sent a reminder in writing. If your balance rental is not received by six weeks before your holiday at the latest then your holiday will be cancelled.
In order to keep our rental prices as low as possible we do not produce a brochure. There are a large number of property descriptions on site. There are also hundreds of other properties to which we have access and we can post these to the site as soon as we have established availability for properties which meet your requirements.
Payment for holidays can be make by cheque or by credit card through Paypal. There is a 3% surcharge for customers who pay through Paypal.
Guests must ***UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES*** exceed the stated capacity of the gîte. Bargain Gîtes ***WILL NOT*** call owners asking if capacities may be exceeded. The answer will always be ***NO***
PLEASE NOTE that in exceptional circumstances when the pound has fallen against the Euro there may be a surcharge on the rental prices quoted. If this is the case you will be told the amount at the time that you make your reservation.
Please note that Bargain Gîtes is not a full agency but an introductory service. We book holidays for our customers directly with French agencies and owners. We have not had the opportunity to visit most of the properties on the web site and rely on the descriptions supplied by the French owners and agencies with whom we work. Whilst every care is taken to ensure that the descriptions supplied are accurate we cannot guarantee that the descriptions shown are correct in every respect
